MES Power Engineering were called to assist identify the cause of a loss of power at the CHP site. Differential protection on the 35MVA 33kV/11kV transformer had operated and we set about testing to identify whether the fault was on the high or low voltage side of this large transformer. Following tests, the end boxes were opened and the 33kV end box revealed damage on the terminations. To repair a section of 33kV singles feeding the transformer was replaced and the end box re-terminated. Our Craftsmen and Senior Authorised Person worked overnight so that new singles were pressure tested and site supply was restored.
