The Role

Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Manager with experience of running QA systems such as ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001. The ideal candidate should be driven, motivated and passionate about change.

Job Purpose

Works with Directors to identify HSEQ priorities and programs for the area managed, including performance metrics, communication and change management. To promote the company’s safety values.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Leads & manages HSEQ programs, compliance and results for a smaller business, facility or geography.
  • Manage programs or processes (i.e., personnel safety, environmental safety, and compliance).
  • Implements company policies and programs.
  • Ensures that required monitoring of operations or industrial exposures is in place. Provides technical leadership and functional guidance for health standards promulgated by regulatory authorities.
  • Coordinates NERS, Achillies, and other audits of the area managed; works with leadership to ensure findings are addressed.
  • Gives feedback about changes needed for compliance, communication, or business relevance.
  • Keeps informed on all existing and proposed changes in occupational health and safety regulations and ensures compliance in areas managed.
  • Provides regulatory reporting. Ensures that leading and lagging HSEQ metrics are collected.
  • Provide competent and technical health, safety and environmental advice (HSEQ) and guidance to business management.
  • Play an active role in the culture development towards HSEQ and 'works safe, home safe”.
  • Carry out and assist management in investigating incidents, hazards or occupational ill health as appropriate to business needs and commensurate with potential outcomes.
  • Contribute to the future success of MES Power Engineering and its clients.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Knowledge of Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality management systems
  • NEBOSH/IOSH qualification essential
  • Excellent knowledge of ISO9001, ISO14001 & ISO45001
  • Professional membership or working towards
  • Chair & lead Health and Safety meetings.
  • Have the ability to understand the latest needs of customers and regulatory and industry bodies.
  • Good interpersonal skills and passion about HSEQ
  • Experience within the Electrical and Utilities department is beneficial.
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to engage others effectively and drive change across all levels.
  • Pragmatic and practical; can develop processes and standards and manage a team.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Excellent knowledge of HSEQ and its practical implications in an electrical environment.
  • Experience of delivering efficient and effective services to stakeholders
